Pier Angeli and Gene Kelly

Gene Kelly looks huge next to tiny 5’ tall Pier. Funny how he’s still in 2 inch heels for this (which is clear by the fact that the shoes inside her galoshes are not flat-heeled.) But they did that, of course, and still do.
The toupees on male stars never really bother me, but sometimes the lifts do. A toupee on a man is like make-up on a woman. Tall shoes are actual distortions. Did you know that even John Wayne wore them, though his natural height was 6’4”? He liked to appear hulking on screen.
Still, they look grand together, especially with such a vista stretching behind them.
