Almost exactly ten years ago, I was cruising LimeWire & Napster looking for replacements for my old stolen record collection, and recordings by artists that had become obsolete, hard to find, etc. It’s so different now! You can find any old thing if you look in the right places.
Anyway. I’d been very hardcore into Bobby Darin for about 5 years, but hadn’t heard nearly enough of his music. Then I ran across this, and it blew me away.
What I said then was, “I had to go change my underwear after hearing it for the first time.”
It won an Oscar as Best Song, for the movie Papa’s Delicate Condition, as sung by Frank Sinatra. Took me years to appreciate his version of it, though. But this here? Still hits the target, every time.
Headphones on, eyes closed, please.
